The problem with “smart” homes
A modern house accumulates technology one purchase at a time. The lighting came from one manufacturer, the thermostat from another, the shades from a third. The cameras have their own app, the alarm has its own keypad, the pool equipment has a portal, and the theater needs three remotes in a specific order.
Each piece works. None of them work together. That is not a smart home, it is eleven smart products sharing an address.
An RTI control system fixes that by sitting above every subsystem and speaking to each one in its own language. You stop thinking about which brand does what and start thinking in terms of what you actually want: Good Morning, Movie, Away, Entertaining, Goodnight.
Movie
Shades close, lights fade to ten percent, the projector powers on, the receiver switches inputs and the AV rack wakes up — in the right order, with the right delays.
Goodnight
Every light off except the stair path, doors locked, gate closed, thermostats to overnight setpoints, cameras armed.
Away
House drops to away mode, audio stops, HVAC sets back, and your phone can still see the cameras and open the gate for a delivery.
Entertaining
Music follows you from kitchen to deck, landscape and pool lighting come up at dusk, and the outdoor speakers stay below the level that annoys the neighbors.
What we integrate
If a device can be controlled over IP, RS-232, infrared or a contact closure, it can almost always be brought into the system — regardless of who manufactured it.
Lighting and shades
Lutron and comparable systems, keypads that say what they do, and motorized shades that track the sun instead of a clock.
Audio throughout
Multi-room amplification and streaming, architectural and landscape speakers, and audio that follows you room to room instead of restarting.
Home theater
Projector, screen, processor, sources and lighting on one remote — and a guest can operate it without a tutorial.
Climate
Thermostats and zoned HVAC on schedules and scenes, with real feedback on the panel rather than a guess.
Cameras and security
Live camera views pulled onto the touchpanel and phone, alarm panel status, and doorbell video that interrupts what you are watching.
Doors and gates
Smart locks, driveway gates and garage doors, with the ability to let a delivery in from wherever you are.
Pool, spa and irrigation

None of the above is reliable on a builder-grade router. We design the network first — because we are also the ones who have to support it.

Your phone and tablet
The RTiPanel app on iOS and Android, at home or away. Same buttons, same names, whether you are on the couch or in an airport.
In-wall touchpanels
Mounted where you actually make decisions — the mudroom, the kitchen, the primary bedroom. No hunting for a phone to turn off the house.
Handheld remotes
Backlit remotes with two-way feedback, so the remote knows the TV is already on. This is the one your guests and your in-laws will find intuitive.
Processing happens locally on your own network. If the internet drops, the house still works — and there is no subscription required to keep your own lights turning on.

Racks, cooling, power conditioning, labeled cabling and network segmentation. It is why the system is still stable in year five.
Common questions
What actually is RTI?
RTI (Remote Technologies Incorporated) builds professional control systems: a processor that lives in your equipment rack, plus the interfaces you touch — in-wall touchpanels, handheld remotes with two-way feedback, and the RTiPanel app on your phone or tablet. It is dealer-programmed rather than self-installed, which is exactly why it can control equipment that consumer platforms cannot.
Why not just use the app that came with each product?
Because there are eleven of them and nobody in the house remembers which is which. Worse, they do not talk to each other, so “movie night” means opening four apps in the right order. RTI sits above all of it and gives you one interface, plus scenes that combine subsystems in a single press.
Will it work if my internet goes down?
Yes. The processor makes its decisions locally on your own network, so lights, shades, audio and scenes keep working during an outage. Remote access from outside the house needs internet, as you would expect.
Is there a monthly fee?
Not for the control system itself. You own it. Some individual subscriptions you already pay for — streaming services, camera cloud storage, an alarm monitoring contract — stay as they are.
Can you add RTI to a house that's already built?
Often, yes. How far we can go depends on what is already in the walls and what is wireless. We do a walkthrough first and tell you honestly what is reachable without opening drywall and what is not.
What if I buy a new device later?
Bring it to us before you buy it and we will confirm it can be integrated. If it is controllable over IP, serial, IR or a contact closure, it can usually be added to the system without replacing anything else.
Do you do commercial control too?
Yes. The same platform runs conference rooms, restaurants, tasting rooms and showrooms — one button for “presentation mode” instead of a drawer full of remotes.
